The winners of the prestigious mumandworking 2010 awards have been announced and Hippychick is delighted to have won the Company of the Year 2010.
There were over 400 nominations in these awards that reward and recognise companies and individuals that are proving that flexible working employment policies work.
The Company of the Year category was open to any company who actively promotes exceptionally family-friendly and flexible working policies to its team. Founded over a decade ago by Julia Minchin, Hippychick was much more than just a business idea, it was her second baby!
Her first baby, Tom, was the inspiration behind her drive to find the innovative, practical and high-quality nursery products that she required. Starting with the simple, but effective Hipseat after which the company was named, Hippychick was born. With Julia’s husband, Jeremy, leaving an 11 year career in the Police two years later to assist her, the brand has gone from strength to strength.
Julia has consistently strived to allow those employees with children the flexibility to juggle the responsibilities of being a parent with a successful working life, and ensuring that there is a perfect balance between the two.
In addition to this, Hippychick actively seeks and promotes ‘parentpreneur’ products where the inventor has a great idea, be it at design or prototype stage, or even if they have already gone to market, but is not in a position to take it any further. Julia is passionate about giving other parents the chances she has enjoyed, and many of the products within the Hippychick range have been launched in exactly this way.
2009 saw the start of the nationwide Mumpreneur competition, in association with Prima Baby, with the winning product, Bumpsters, enjoying their official launch this year. The innovative and beautifully designed individual cot bar bumpers sold out within the first 2 weeks of launch, something that the inventor, mum of two Jane Wall-Budden, could never have dreamt of without the competition.
