Hippychick has raised over £10,000 for its first ever official Charity of the Year –Make-A-Wish Foundation UK

Make-A-Wish has been granting wishes to seriously ill children for over 25 years and has committed to granting over 1,100 magical wishes this year.  Hippychick’s fundraising achievements will make a significant contribution to aid the charity in reaching that goal.

Thousands of pounds were raised by Hippychick in the pre Christmas period when it donated a percentage of the profits from the sale of every Wheelybug to Make-A-Wish.  Over the course of the Summer in peak holiday, festival and walking season when demand for its newly re-designed Hipseat is at an all time high, Hippychick aims to replicate the Wheelybug fundraising success by donating a percentage of the profits from each Hipseat sale direct to its Charity of the Year.

Hippychick’s retail partners can also get involved by making a voluntary one-click donation when they order on the Hippychick website.  Julia comments:  ‘We’ve been incredibly gratified by the generosity of our trade partners, customers and staff since launching our fundraising efforts for Make-A-Wish.  Next time you order with us, please dig deep.  Every pound really does make a difference.’

Choosing Make-A-Wish as Hippychick’s first ever Charity of the Year was an all staff decision with the charity coming out as the clear winner when it was put to the team vote.

Julia comments:  ‘At Hippychick we’re committed to improving the quality of family life and to making it simple, stress free and fun.  I think it was important to the whole team that we picked a charity with a family focus.

‘One of our team has first hand experience of just how Make-A-Wish can positively impact a child’s life.  Her partner’s ‘footie mad’ young cousin was granted the chance to meet her team and spend a day with Steven Gerrard – an unbelievably magical day for the whole family.’

To date, in the drive to surpass its £10,000 goal, the Hippychick team has organised sponsored warehouse sales, cake sales, had a company swear box (that has filled up quicker than anticipated) and even organised a HappyHopperz racing derby event – the children’s version was infinitely more civilised than the adult one that followed!

Two of the Hippychick Team, Tracy Beviss and Michelle Thomas, also bravely took to the skies and, stomachs in mouths, participated in a sponsored sky dive raising over £1,500 between them.  Tracy comments:  ‘Doing the sky dive was the most petrifying and exhilarating event of my life, but it was also a memory that will stay with me forever.  Knowing that the funds we raised will help create equally precious memories for families going through such difficult times was the driving force in giving me the courage to take that leap of faith!’

In July Hippychick will hold a dedicated week of fundraising with associated offers, competitions, Facebook campaigns and ways for retailers and customers to get involved.

Julia said:  ‘We are so proud of what we have achieved knowing that the £10,000 raised to date will make such a difference.  But we are not resting up yet!  Our goal is to continue to help the amazing Make-A-Wish charity grant many more wishes -  check out our website to find out how to get involved with this brilliant cause.’
