Babycup fits the bill with the House of Lords and Public Health England

There’s a British product that every child would benefit from having. NHS Oral Health Promoters describe it as “perfect” and dentists recommend it as “essential for weaning”. The product is Babycup, the multi-award-winning mini open cup.

A survey by Public Health England has revealed that one in 10 3-year-olds has tooth decay. Toddlers had an average of three teeth that were decayed, missing or filled.

One of Public Health England’s recommendations to improve this rotten state is to move young children onto a cup from as young an age as possible. Weaning is the ideal time for this when toddlers are starting to take food sitting up in a highchair.

Babycup was specifically created to help support dental health and is a healthy cup choice for mealtimes.

As a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on a Fit and Healthy Childhood, the firm that makes Babycup was at the House of Lords discussing the importance of healthy choices from the start and working on proposals to Government to ensure this.

The chairman Baroness Benjamin of Beckenham, the former Play School presenter turned Liberal Democrat peer, said: "Once you tell people, the penny drops.” This is exactly the case with Babycup and once parents know the big impact this small purchase can have on their child they are keen to buy them.

Sara Keel (pictured right with Floella Benjamin), the founder of Babycup, commented: “We love working with retailers who want to offer the best to their customers. Babycup is an easy add-on to any weaning kit shopping list and retailers can really help make a difference to toddler tooth health."
