Cheeky Chompers launch into market with new sizes for all sizes

Cheeky Chompers, home to the award-winning Neckerchew, this month released the first in a range of special needs products for children and adults with chewing and dribbling symptoms, commonly known as oral motor stimulation.

The product is based on the design of the world first Neckerchew, a chewy dribble bib uniquely combining the popular bandana bib style with an attached chewable teether. Initially aimed at teething tots, the company had a growing demand amongst parents, carers, and specialist of children and adults with special needs, so have expanded into a range of larger sized bibs suitable for older children and adults. Consumer feedback also showed a demand for Cheeky Chompers’ second product, the Comfortchew, amongst all needs. The attachable teething comforter conveniently attaches to a buggy, wheelchair and car-seat.

The Neckerchew and Comfortchew come in an array of styles and designs that are appropriate for a range of ages, which look as good as they are comfortable. Fully reversible, the Neckerchews are made from super-soft jersey cotton that is delicate on sensitive skin but highly absorbent, making them suitable for all-day wear, with a unique attached teether that is BPA and phthalates free and 100% safe to chew on. A special absorbent middle layer locks dribble and moisture away from the chest and reduces irritation.

Co-founder Amy Livingstone said: “Consumer feedback is at the heart of what we do at Cheeky Chompers. Our focus with our products has always been on quality, and after we launched we started hearing directly from parents of children with disabilities to tell us that the Neckerchew was the only thing that really works for their child. They hadn’t found anything yet that both catered for excessive dribbling and chewing that was well made enough to last. We listened to our consumers and have worked to create something that is suitable for all ages, not just for children, and really works. We’ve developed a range of patterns and colours that can suit adults as much as children, and have created larger sizes to fit older children and adults. We hope our products can really make a difference to the lives of families and will continue to develop the range along with feedback we get.”

Kara Spencer, writer of parenting blog Innocent Charm Chats, and whose eldest child, Grayson, has several disabilities including chewing, comments, “The Neckerchew for us was a revolutionary product. Grayson was always getting a sore chin from his constant mouthing (part of his disability). He was also chewing everything in sight, and getting through dozens of ‘chewy’ products a month. The Neckerchew is the only thing that has really worked for Grayson. It’s especially important, as he gets older, that we can get something that fits him and suits his age and Cheeky Chompers have done just that. I’m so delighted that they’ve been able to listen to myself and other mums to create something specially for children with needs like Grayson’s.”

Amy and Julie, founders of Cheeky Chompers, invented their first product the Neckerchew, a unique combination of a dribble bib and chewy teether, after they identified a gap in the market for an attached teething product from their own experiences picking up and re-sanitising teethers for their own children. Their appearance on Dragon’s Den in March 2014 saw each of the Dragons admit they loved the product but didn’t believe the business projections, but the brand has since surpassed expectations and has seen a rapidly growing consumer demand over the last year.
