Reporting Live from Britax HQ!
ITV1’s flagship breakfast show, Daybreak, visited Britax Headquarters in Andover this week
ITV1’s flagship breakfast show, Daybreak, visited Britax Headquarters in Andover this week to film a live crash simulation for the programme.
The simulation saw a 40mph collision involving a child dummy without a seatbelt alongside a child dummy in a Britax SAFEFIX plus TT ISOFIX. As the dummy was flung from the vehicle, presenter Kate Garroway commented that the results were ‘terrifying’.
The show, which regularly attracts more than a million viewers, coincided with National Child Safety week and Britax’s campaign to raise awareness of the importance of car seat safety and ISOFIX technology. As part of the campaign, Britax released a report into the nation’s car seat safety habits, which alarmingly revealed 1 in 5 parents regularly break the car seat safety laws and a quarter of parents admitted they do not even know how to fit their car seat, a problem that can easily be avoided with the use of an ISOFIX car seat.
The report stimulated debate across the country with over 25 radio stations, including the hugely influential Radio 5 Live, interviewing Britax spokespeople. Widespread coverage also appeared in online parenting media including Gurgle.com, MadeForMums.com and BizzieBaby.co.uk and the bloggersphere went into overdrive with shocked parents chatting about the findings.
