TRUNKI CELEBRATE 5TH YEAR WITH DOUBLE BIRTHDAY BASH

Bristol based Magmatic, the company behind the iconic Trunki brand, is celebrating its fifth birthday with not one but two parties!

Bristol based Magmatic, the company behind the iconic Trunki brand, is celebrating its fifth birthday with not one but two parties for those who’ve helped take the businesses trademark childrens travel products to more than 60 countries around the globe!

On Thursday 5th May, The Mothership - the companies spaceship inspired head office which is soon to feature in the BBC’s ‘Show Me the Money’ - hosted the first event. An exclusive childrens party for staff as well as some of Trunki’s greatest fans. And later this month all 19 Magmatic staff will be treated to second celebration – a three night break in the Mediterannian.

Set up in 2006 by Trunki’s ‘Daddy’, Rob Law, the inventor, designer and now MBE has overcome all manner of obstacles - from early funding and manufacturing issues, to four very notable dragons – to become an ambassador for British business as well as heading up one of the UK’s most beloved brands.

Rob commented, “Magmatic’s weathered a few storms - including the recent financial downturn - emerging stronger and more dynamic from every knock back. In fact, continuing to buck the trend, last year we pretty much doubled turnover again.

“I could not of achieved this without my wonderful team or the close to a million people out there whose love for Trunki is evident in the countless emails, videos and photos we receive each and every week. I simply cannot thank them enough.”

Magmatic is also marking the momentous occasion with a brand new, very limited addition to the family. Quinn (named after the Latin for ‘five’) which is the first ever semi-translucent Trunki. And with only five thousand in existence, each Quinn proudly wears a special Trunki birthday badge as well as being numbered 1 - 5,000 to guarantee his authenticity.

In addition to Quinn and his eight Trunki cousins, Magmatic now produces a whole host of family travel accessories from the Travel ToyBox to BoostApak - a backpack and child’s booster seat in one.

A regular business traveller, Law made the simple observation that children get bored during journeys, particularly at airports. He initially thought of the Trunki concept while studying a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design at the University of Northumbria.

Law originally hails from Chester but now both lives and works in Bristol. He has worked internationally, including stints in New York, Taiwan, Australia and for some of the UK’s leading design consultancies.

Law concluded, “Five years ago I was working alone from home so to look around the Mothership now at the team and all we achieved together, I really appreciate how far we’ve come. Here’s to the next five years and beyond and you never know, my dream of taking Trunki to the moon may not be that far off”.
