Scott Weavers-Wright named sixth most influential internet retailer of 2011
Kiddicare.com Chief Executive, Scott Weavers-Wright, has acquired sixth position in this year’s Retail Week roll-call of the 50 most powerful people in online retail, one place higher than last year
Retail Week magazine’s annual Etail Power List recognises those at the pinnacle of online retail, highlighting individuals whose innovations are making the greatest impact in the ecommerce market. Weavers-Wright is in good company with Nick Robertson, Chief Executive of Asos; Chris North, Managing Director of Amazon UK; and Ken Towle, Director of internet retailing at Tesco, just ahead of him.
Having built Kiddicare.com into one of the most innovative multichannel businesses in the UK, Weavers-Wright’s expertise and his business were acquired by Morrisons supermarket for £70 million in February 2011. Weavers-Wright’s additional role as MD for Morrisons non-food online, with responsibility for bringing Morrisons to the ecommerce market, has seen him move up the list from seventh position in 2010, to sixth this year.
Kiddicare.com is unique in its dedication to the customer’s shopping experience when implementing cutting edge technology. It has created an efficient model both for customers and for back end processes within the business, which include:
• A bespoke enterprise resource planning (ERP) picking system which is now responsible for shipping approximately 140,000 items per month
• An interactive customer community which has reduced customer service enquiries by a third and upped Kiddicare’s customer call answer rate to 98.5%
• More than 4,500 service and sales videos, with a primary aim of helping customers in their decision making process and also answer any assembly queries once items are received, but which also act as a brilliant marketing tool on the wider web
• The launch of a paid-for merchandising system which allows nursery brands to position themselves more prominently on the Kiddicare site
• Written and video review platforms which allow customers to rate the products they’ve purchased and recommend them to other shoppers
• The functionality to navigate the site by review attribute, so customers can find exactly the right product for their needs, based on the recommendations of other users
• As standard, free next day delivery service on orders over £29.99, in a one hour time slot which can be rearranged via SMS directly with the driver
• A transactional mobile version of Kiddicare.com enabling on-the-go shopping for busy parents
• A state of the art transactional iPhone app that allows users to scan barcodes in rival stores, check prices and order direct from Kiddicare with just one click
Also appearing in the Etail power Lists top twenty are Simon Thomson (16), Managing Director for online food at Morrisons, and Richard Pennycook (19), Group Finance Director of Morrisons as well as Chairman at Kiddicare; an acknowledgement that Morrisons, a grocer considered late to the ecommerce party, intends to make their online offering a force to be reckoned with.
Scott Weavers-Wright comments: ‘I’m delighted to not only be recognised within the Etail Power List, but to have improved my position this year. It’s been an exciting year for Kiddicare.com, and whilst our focus remains to provide an exceptional customer experience by continually developing our technology platforms, we’re looking forward to more digital challenges that will come with the launch of Morrisons.com in 2012.”
