OmniO Rider Strolls away with Gadget Show Live Award

OmniO Rider from Innovation Makers Ltd has officially been announced winner of this year’s Gadget Show Live British Inventors’ Project Award 2015. This revolutionary stroller which redesigns the wheel and can be carried like a backpack has caused quite a stir at the event, where it’s proving a real hit with visitors.

There was some stiff competition this year with more than 20 finalists, for which OmniO Rider came out on top. Designed by parents for parents, this next generation stroller quickly and conveniently transforms from pushchair to backpack with perfect ease, for hands-free on-the-go parenting! Superior steering is offered by the ground-breaking new Omni-wheel; a highly responsive wheel-in-a-wheel that works to provide greater agility for more refined movement and control.

Now in its second year, the awards recognise excellence in technology innovation in the UK. “As a nation, the UK’s design heritage is one to be proud of and we wanted to showcase British talent as well as provide a platform for it to flourish and develop further”, commented Sally Bent, the Gadget Show Live Event Director.

Weighing under 6kg and with a carrying capacity of 22Kg, this exceptionally lightweight stroller is ideal for tired toddlers who lack the stamina to walk long distances, active parents, inner-city dwellers, holiday-makers, stay-at-home parents who crave the full use of both hands on everyday outings, and grandparents who lack storage space and require a stroller that’s easy to lift. Combined with features such as the large rain hood and sun protector, OmniO Rider was deemed a perfect fit to a perennial problem by the award judges: Jeremy White, Product Editor Wired Magazine; Nick Scheider, Product Designer at Dyson and Mark Shehan, Inventor in Residence at the British Library’s Business and IP Centre.

This is the latest accolade for OmniO Rider following the announcement on Sunday, 29 March when the Baby Products Association (BPA) awarded the product the Innovation Award at the International Nursery Fair in Harrogate, where it was judged on design aesthetics, functionality, innovation, market viability and value for money.

Speaking of this latest success, Innovation Makers Ltd Co-founder, Samantha Warwick says: “We have been genuinely overwhelmed by the positive response to ‘OmniO Rider’. A response, which we are delighted to say, has only intensified since the accolade of winning the prestigious British Inventors’ Project award. We are unable to express our extreme gratitude enough to the judges for recognising the result of a great team’s effort to bring the easy convenience of ‘OmniO Rider’ to parents”.

Innovation Makers Ltd wins £1,000 to develop their product further, a commercial stand at Gadget Show Live 2016 and three years free access to Autodesk’s product design software Fusion 360 Ultimate.
