Positive reaction to Harrogate’s new format

Decision to open to public on last day proves popular.

Following the announcement that it will be opening to both trade and consumers on the last day of the show in March 2016, Harrogate International Nursery Fair reports positive feedback from the majority of exhibitors with many new bookings as a direct result of the new format.

Adrian Sneyd, show organiser, commented: “Initially there was a little confusion about how the trade and consumer day, which takes place on Tuesday 22 March, would be structured and there was concern that additional stock and payment facilities would be required. However, now that exhibitors understand that this is not the case, there will be no selling at the show; they are beginning to see the benefit of raising brand awareness to consumers.”

There are currently very few consumer baby shows in the north of England and therefore new parents have little opportunities to view and compare a huge selection of baby products all under one roof before committing to buying.

Adrian continued: “Just like attending a wedding show, or a home show for example, many people attend consumer events to source information and this is exactly how we will be presenting the consumer event at Harrogate. Not only will mums and dads-to-be be able to view lots of different brands of pushchairs, cars seats and accessories and see and feel the products first hand; they will be able to watch demonstrations on the safe use and installation of such products and attend seminars with important information when bringing up a new baby.

“It will be made absolutely clear that they will not be able to buy products at the show – although at exhibitor’s discretion they may be offered a show special and be directed to a retailer or online store where they can redeem it.”

As well as the numerous consumer media that already attend Harrogate, for the first time the show will also encourage mummy bloggers to attend the consumer day creating an even greater buzz about new products that will be coming into shops in the near future.
